Faxanadu Disassembly

I probably won't have a lot of time in the next weeks or even months to continue my Faxanadu disassembly. Therefore I've decided to upload all disassembly files in the hopes that someone else can continue my work.

Click here to get the archive including all files

Files in the archive:
*.html - HTML disassembly of important ROM banks
*.bin - IDA Pro databases
*.nl - Name list files for FCEUXD SP
idc*.idc - Various IDC scripts used while disassembling the Faxanadu ROM file
memmap.txt - Notes about the RAM section of Faxanadu; Use only in combination with the newer initram.idc

Unsavory Maggot on :

I've come back to the project, but am starting over. With the help of your disassembly html #15, I've located "LoadMessage" at ROM:F505 in the Japanese release. This is vital if I'm going to retranslate the game (I still have most of the original work) and retain the character naming screen (and password screen as well) faithfully. I'm not sure whether or not it would've been easier to simply port the screen, but I figure the Japanese accents (like " and o) could be replaced with ~ and ` accents. Just out of curiousity, would a VWF be possible? From what I've seen, Romancia is the only FC game to have one hacked in. This is admittedly my first ASM project and of course I haven't even scratched the surface just yet, in spite of hacking in the Brown Potion and other minor details originally. I still reference 6502.org, and have a saved copy of a romhacking forum conversation from 1/4/09 (hard to believe it's been two years already!) -- without which I wouldn't even have gotten as far as I did. Not to forget FCEUXD SP!!

As a bonus, have you seen this?: http://adventym.com/faxanadu/bestiary/

Anyway, just writing to say I still appreciate your resources after all this time, they're a big help! Thank you very much!

Hey dude, thank you very much for your comment and good luck with your project. Unfortunately I can not help you with anything anymore. I have simply forgotten everything I have ever known about Faxanadu. It's been too long.

I have totally seen that bestiary at one point in the past. It's a very nice collection of artwork and statistics. Much appreciated.
